Constipation is when bowel movements become infrequent. Although it is ideal to have at least one bowel movement per day, a person is generally not considered constipated unless they have less than three bowel movements per week. More specifically, is where there is a significant change in bowel patterns, for example, if two bowel movements a day is the norm for an individual, then having three bowel movements per week would be infrequent for them.
